Creating your own Correspondences.

This is a project we are currently working on in both our private Crane Practitioners group on Facebook and the Temple’s private Discord server.

We have all seen the flood of memes telling us what colors, plants, stones, and so forth mean in practice/ witchcraft. Many are the same, some have variations, but the largest problem is they are not yours. Like everything else in spirituality, how we perceive and resonate with something should always trump what others say. You are not telling others “This is the only way” you are saying “This is my way”.

So with this in mind and our Fire of the Senses (Spring Equinox coming up) I thought we could do a fun project. I want each of us to come up with our own correspondent lists, starting with colors.

You can make your picture as simple or decorated as you wish. The goal is to reflect on each color in the color wheel (focus on the main colors and others that hold significance for you).

What emotions does each one bring forth to you?

What imagery comes to mind when thinking about that color?

What kind of music does that color sound like to you?

What smells do you associate with it?

What plants or food do you associate with that color?

Using all your senses – define what each color is to you. In the end you will have created a personal correspondence chart that can be used in your practices. By using your own, I think you will see an increased potency to your spellwork/ creations. You will also have created a new page for your own BOS (Book of Shadows).

If you have done this exercise before and it has been more than a year, I would encourage you to go back through and evaluate each one : Has anything changed? Does anything need to be omitted or added? As we grow and transform, sometimes so do our perspectives, so understand this probably won’t be your final forever list.
